Dominican Republic Water Project
Rotary Club of Fort Myers South went international this year! In March, members of the club headed to the small mountain village of Los Higos for a Dominican Republic water project. Once there, they took part in building and installing rainwater harvesting tanks in the houses and schools of the community. Rotary Club of Fort Myers South partnered with Club Rotario Santiago Gurabito (the Rotary Club of Santiago Gurabito) for this incredible project that enhanced the lives of the residents in the community. Rotary Club of Fort Myers South will honor 36 nominees and announce the scholarship recipients and other award winners at its Scholar-Athlete Awards banquet from 7 to 9 p.m. May 6, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza in Fort Myers. The scholarship program recognizes top athletes from area high schools based on athletic and academic achievement, along with strength of character Joe Dooley will deliver the keynote address.
