Rotary Club of Fort Myers South will honor 36 scholar-athletes and announce the scholarship recipients and other award winners at its Scholar-Athlete Awards banquet from 7 to 9 p.m. May 11, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza in Fort Myers. Benton, Chief Executive Officer of ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.) at its March 7, 2016 luncheon meeting. ACT is a private, not-for-profit agency committed to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. The Rotary Club of Fort Myers South is pleased to support the Multicultural Centre of Southwest Florida’s Adopt-A-Student fundraiser with a $5000 donation to purchase new backpacks and school supplies for 500 students in need, which will be handed out at the BIG Backpack Event on Sunday, August 2, from at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers. Rotary Club of Fort Myers South went international this year! In March, members of the club headed to the small mountain village of Los Higos for a Dominican Republic water project. Once there, they took part in building and installing rainwater harvesting tanks in the houses and schools of the community.
