Charitable Grants Awarded to Four Organizations

Charitable grants totaling more than $4,000 were awarded to four Lee County-based organizations by the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South at its meeting on August 25, 2014: Hope Clubhouse, Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Interfaith Charities of South Lee, and The Music Foundation of Southwest Florida.  Rotary South’s 2014-2015 President Rebecca Goff is pictured with a representative of each organization.

Hope Clubhouse offers opportunities to people living with mental illness in Southwest Florida for meaningful work, education, friendships, and access to housing in a supportive, caring, dignified and respectful community setting. This non-profit organization received $1,028 from Rotary South to be used towards software that important to securing additional funding for their mission.

Check-Goodwill-Aug2014Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida runs a week-long residential camp for adults with special needs called Trailways Camp. Its mission is to remove the social isolation often felt by people with disabilities by providing opportunities for fun, friends and support. Through outdoor activities, exercise, crafts and more, campers have the opportunity to develop recreational skills and build friendships. Rotary South donated $1,500 towards three camp scholarships.

Check-Interfaith-Aug2014Interfaith Charities of South Lee is a community service organization operating in south Lee County for more than 20 years. Its mission is to feed the hungry, guide the young, and aid the needy.  Interfaith Charities received a $1,110 grant from Rotary South to be used towards new stainless steel tables and shelves for their food pantry.

Check-MusicFoundation-Aug2014The Music Foundation of Southwest Florida has been serving area music students since 1991.  Each year, they present a summer music camp for middle school aged youth, with a low student-teacher ratio so students receive as much individual attention as possible.  Rotary South donated $500 towards summer camp scholarships.
