Jim Larkin – Rotarian of the Month

The Rotary Club of Fort Myers South has named Jim Larkin Rotarian of the Month for July 2014. He was presented with the award in appreciation for his continuing support of our weekly meetings and special events at the Crowne Plaza where he serves as General Manager. Jim has been instrumental in keeping the service level high and our costs reasonable over the years.

According to the Crownechronicles blog, Jim has been in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years. His interest in the hospitality industry started while he was attending high school in Honolulu Hawaii. He has worked in the industry since the age of 16 in Hawaii starting as a restaurant dishwasher at a Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor. After graduating the University of Houston, Jim’s hotel career took him across the country and back again, working in locations such as Kennebunkport ME, Albuquerque NM, Durango CO, and Monterey CA. In addition to his professional responsibilities and involvement in the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South, Jim is personally involved in numerous charitable causes including Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. Jim is married with twin daughters and when not spending time with his family he enjoys golf, most water recreation and is an avid Dallas Cowboys, Boston Red Sox and FSU fan.
