Humanitarian crisis unfolds in hurricane-stricken Bahamas! Looking for ways to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian,? Look to ROTARY! There are several ways you can help through Rotary!
1) HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF FUND
As with the Carolinas last year, The Rotary Foundation has set up a Disaster Relief Donor Advised Fund where donations may be general or earmarked for a specific state, island or Rotary District. Did you know that The Rotary Foundation has had Charity Navigator’s top rating (100 out of 100) for 11 years running? A committee consisting of a Rotarian in each affected district will assemble to accept grant requests, and make final decisions on where non-earmarked contributions are distributed. Donations must follow these specific instructions:
Checks:
Payable to: The Rotary Foundation DAF
Memo Line: Rotary District 7680 DAF No. 574
Mail to: Rotary DAF, c/o NRS, 12 Gill Street, Suite 2600, Woburn, MA 01801
If designating a particular area, note RI District Number, Island, State or Country on check. (Bahamas is in District 7020)
Credit Card online: https://www.your-fundaccount.com/rotary/howtocontribute.asp
Account Name: Rotary District 7680 DAF No. 574
Account No: 574
If designating a particular area, when you get to the contribution amount, you will see “Special Instructions to Seller”. Enter RI District Number, Island, State, or Country here.

2) GIVE HAPPY/SAD DOLLARS ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9
At the Monday, September 9, Rotary South meeting (noon at Crowne Plaza, Fort Myers), our happy/sad dollars will go to the above fund. The Board has voted to match those happy/sad dollars up to $500 from our giving budget. So, give generously on Monday!
3) DONATE ITEMS
Bring any of these items to our meeting Monday and we will box it up and get it to John Smarge’s warehouse (Ray the Mover). John Smarge served as past RI President Barry Rassin’s aide this past year. Barry Rassin’s home club is in Nassau, Bahamas, so we know that these supplies will get to Rotarians there for appropriate distribution. Items donated will be packaged on pallets and shipped to Rotarians to distribute to their community.
If you prefer, you can directly drop off donations in Naples, or order from Amazon Prime and ship directly. Boxes must be marked DORIAN RELIEF.
