Rotary South furnishes ACT with a big check!

Rotary Club of Fort Myers South presented a check for just over $9,000 to Jennifer L. Benton, Chief Executive Officer of ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc.) at its March 7, 2016 luncheon meeting.  ACT is a private, not-for-profit agency committed to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

The grant is earmarked for the purchase of new, durable furniture for the facility’s family room so that clients may have a comfortable and inviting place to enjoy during their stay.   Our Sergeant-at-Arms Christine Desroches Kobie, a community educator for the organization, identified the need and submitted the grant request which was approved by the Board at its February meeting. Rotary South member Joe Gammon’s company Office Furniture and Design worked with representatives of ACT to identify suitable commercial grade furniture choices that would hold up to heavy daily use, including three dozen stackable chairs and a large U-shaped brown vinyl sectional.
