Scholar-Athletes recognized by Rotary South

The 34th annual event recognizes top athletes from area high schools based on athletic and academic achievement, along with strength of character. Nineteen Lee County-area high schools each nominated one top male and one top female varsity letter winner who demonstrate leadership characteristics, have GPAs of 3.2 or higher, and are involved in school and community activities. Kohn, Fancher, Bryson, Goldsmith garner awards The backbone of Southwest Florida are the people who give of themselves to make it better. Four such people are this year’s Rotary Club of Fort Myers South award winners. Rotary Club of Fort Myers South kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration at its annual installation dinner held at Crowne Plaza on Friday, June 15. In the spirit of the “Golden Oldies” the evening included a social hour, TV-dinner style buffet, Paul Harris roll call, and a musical journey through the decades with recognition of the clubs past presidents.
