A message from club president Kerri Goldsmith…
In compliance with CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19 precautions, as well as Rotary International’s suggestions, our Board has decided to cancel all Rotary South luncheon meetings until further notice; and our socials have been postponed. Even if someone appears symptom free, they could still be carrying the virus and be contagious, and the United States cases, including new cases in Florida, are on the uptick. By ceasing these group gatherings for a time, there will be less risk of spreading the virus. We will continue to monitor the situation and resume meetings when it is deemed safe to do so. Other local Rotary clubs are also cancelling meetings and events. We are looking into the possibility of meeting or presenting some programs online and will keep you posted on that.
Our community, country, and world are navigating uncharted territory as extreme measures are being taken to head off the progress of the coronavirus so our medical system will be able to handle the load. With schools closed, events cancelled, and some store shelves empty, it can be scary and stressful. We encourage you to connect and keep in touch with your fellow Rotarians during this time – reach out by phone, text, email or good ‘ol snail mail, even if just to say, “Hi!”. Make someone’s day. This will be an unusal time for us, who are used to meeting and greeting each week in person, and hopefully short-lived. Be sure to like and interact on our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.
We hope that none of our members or their family members become ill, and look forward to resuming our normal Rotary South activities when we can put this crazy time behind us. Until then, let me or any of our club leaders know if there is anything we can do as Rotarians and friends to assist you or those in need in our local area.
